The Great Organ
A grand instrument: the Cathedral's Great Organ has 10,647 pipes, in 189 sets or “ranks” of pipes.
The Cathedral’s Great Organ was built and installed in 1938 by the Ernest M. Skinner & Son Organ Company of Methuen, Mass., as their Opus 510. It was significantly altered and expanded throughout the 1960s and 70s by workers from the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company. The Great Organ now has 10,647 pipes, in 189 sets or “ranks” of pipes.

Organ music plays a big role in our Principal Sunday Holy Eucharist and in many other special and seasonal services.
Midday Music Series
For tourists and local music enthusiasts, we welcome you in-person on select Mondays and Wednesdays to enjoy an organ demonstration by Cathedral Organists Thomas Sheehan and Rebecca Ehren or an organ recital by a visiting musician.
